Many years ago I came to Japan and I hated it. I couldn't leave fast enough back to my mission field of Communist China. Though wonderfully clean and organized and polite... Japan was also spiritually cold and dark and lifeless.
.
Through events out of my control I wound up having to stay in Japan. That was 1985. For years I just wanted to run... but then it dawned on me.
.
I had something these people really needed... the Lord's love and light and warmth and kindness and hope and salvation. I realized that if I was in a more Christian country, my simple little sample of His love would probably mean very little... but here it was treasured. Years passed... decades passed... and now old and gray I thank God that I could have had the privilege and honor to live and witness here.
.
What seemed like the greatest curse of my life... has turned out to be my greatest blessing.

Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. --- For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. Mark 8:34 & 35

I absolutely love the daily inspirations on this website. I'm a single mom raising two kiddos and these bolts of light give me hope to keep fighting on. They really brighten my day. They remind me that nothing is too hard for Jesus. He never fails.

Wow. This is exactly what I needed to hear this morning. I was thinking about the future in this life, thinking how am I going to make it. He has always done so much for me in the past but what's going happen now? So, these are great promises.
Jesus, the same yesterday today and forever.
