There Is No Retirement In God's Army
I have always treasured Virginia's story. 100 years ago she was a famous preacher in the USA. Miraculously healed... from death bed to pulpit, she won hundreds of thousands to Jesus. As life goes though, Virginia got old... her body became frail and she slowed down almost to a crawl... finally being forced into using a wheelchair to get around.
.
The thing I treasure about her is that even in her 80's she still kept fighting to get out the gospel. She did a weekly radio broadcast called Meditation Moments which reached millions.
.
In the late 60's she watched the rise of the Hippy Movement and saw thousands of kids... hungry, lost and desperate... hanging out on the beaches, close to her home in California. Every day she'd make stacks of sandwiches and with great difficulty go down in her wheelchair to the beach, to pass out food and witness to those dirty, hopeless hippies.
.
Love Always Finds A Way To Witness.
.
Those raggedy messed up kids loved that little old lady and listened to her. She couldn't do much... But... She Did What She Could.
.
She contacted her youngest boy and told him he should come out and minister to these kids... And He Did. On those sandy beaches of California, a mighty movement... that would touch the world for Jesus... was born. All stemming from A Faithful Old Warrior For Christ... who refused to give up... who refused to give in... till she had given it her all.
.
There's a Lesson In There... for Us All.
